The Mystical Lavaland of Reykjanes

Reykjanes Peninsula is the “youngest” land in Iceland.

Here you will understand better why the Icelanders believe in Elves and Trolls.

First stop is Seltún, a geothermal clay field, and we continue crossing young lava fields and mystical landscape as we go to the town of Grindavík. “Life is salt fish”, wrote the Icelandic Nobel Price author Halldór Laxness: We have the option of visiting the Salt fish museum in Grindavík.

We take a backroad to the lighthouse for some more volcanic landscape.
Sea cliffs, surf and birdlife surround us as we circle the coastline of the peninsula.

Rember the weather is everchanging here in Iceland.

So best to take along both good rain and windgear and good shoes.

Hiking shoes are best suited for Iceland’s rough terrain even on these day tours – If you want to get close and personal or get that good photo shot you might have to cross some rugget land.

We cross the Bridge Between the Continents on our way to the VikingWorld, the home of the Viking ship “Icelander”. The viking exhibition was made in collaboration with the Smithsonian Museum in the U.S.

A visit to the Blue Lagoon can be an option before we head back to Reykjavík
